Staff Report From Georgia CEO

CURE Childhood Cancer, the only organization providing financial and emotional support to local children with cancer and their families while funding critical research for pediatric oncology, has been chosen for the second year as the beneficiary for the 5th Annual Trustees’ Garden Christmas Festival. The Trustees’ Garden Christmas Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, December 21, at Kehoe Iron Works, 660 E. Broughton St., Savannah, Ga. Tickets are available here.

The Trustees’ Garden Christmas Festival is a winter wonderland of family-friendly activities, unique offerings from local vendors, seasonal food and beverages, and a 100% chance of snow. Enjoy the magic of Christmas with upwards of 60 tons of fluffy white snow for sledding in the South! Other kids’ activities include Christmas train rides, bounce houses, rock climbing, face painting, and more.

Adults are welcome to sip delicious hot cocoa, fill up on seasonal selections from Savannah food trucks, and browse arts, crafts, and treats under a 23-ft Christmas tree. Santa Claus will be there too eager to hear what Savannah's children want for Christmas.

“The Trustees’ Garden Christmas Festival brings people together to show love and create joy, so we are honored to be the event beneficiary for the second time. We are so grateful,” said CURE Vice President, South Georgia, Mandy Garola. “The funds raised will go toward critical research that brings us one day closer to conquering childhood cancer,” she added.

CURE Childhood Cancer is working for a cure by funding research exclusively for childhood cancer and supporting families affected by the disease. Childhood cancers differ from adult cancers in how they grow and spread, how they are treated, and how they respond to treatment. More than 17,000 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer every year, and incidence rates are increasing yearly. Despite cancer being the leading cause of death by disease in children, only six cancer drugs have been developed and approved specifically for children in the last 25 years. CURE is on a mission to change this.

The event runs, rain or shine, and children five and under are admitted free. For more information and advance tickets, visit the Christmas Festival at Trustees’ Garden Eventbrite page.
