Dewitt Tilton Group Continues to Support Backpacks of Love Program with $2,000 Donation

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, December 18th, 2024

The Dewitt Tilton Group, a regional leader in commercial and industrial design-build construction, will commemorate another year of giving back to the community by continuing their support of Backpacks of Love, an organization committed to eliminating hunger in school-age boys and girls in Bryan County by providing nourishing food for their weekends.

At 10 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2024, at New Beginnings Community Church, 75 Crosswind Drive, Richmond Hill, Ga., the Dewitt Tilton Group will present a $2,000 check to help fund Christmas dinner packages for students and families in need. Additionally, for the fifth year in a row, staff members from Dewitt Tilton Group are donating their time and effort to help assemble the packages.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to do what we can to help folks in the community who are struggling. Everyone deserves a festive Christmas dinner, so it’s the least we can do for this community that has been so supportive of us and our success,” said co-founder and president Chris Tilton. “The people at Backpacks of Love and New Beginnings Church are wonderful to work with and sincere in their efforts. We love supporting their good works.”

Founded in 2013 by McAllister Elementary School employee Melodie Lane, Backpacks of Love sends at-risk and potentially hungry schoolchildren in Bryan County home with packages of nutritious food each Friday and before extended school breaks.
Now a formal partnership between United Way of the Coastal Empire and the New Beginnings Community Church, donated funds are used to procure food from Second Harvest Food Bank. Year-round donations from individuals and critical support from local businesses like Dewitt Tilton Group strengthen the effort.

Christmas season packages include ham and turkey, canned fruits and vegetables, and other shelf-stable food items to ensure a full, traditional, and nutritious holiday meal.
