“As the mayor of Waycross and a member of action pact’s board of directors, I am grateful for AT&T’s collaboration with action pact to provide laptops for the youth and families it serves,” Mayor Michael-Angelo James, City of Waycross. “Access to technology is a necessity for education, job opportunities and for staying connected. AT&T’s donation will help bridge the digital divide in our community and empower our residents to thrive academically, economically, and socially.”
“At Ware County, we work every day to improve the quality of life for our citizens and closing the digital divide is one of our priorities. AT&T’s donation of laptops in collaboration with action pact is helping bridge that divide by equipping more Ware County youth and families with the technology they need to thrive,” said Commissioner Leonard Burse, Jr., Ware County Board of Commissioners (District 1) and Chairman of the action pact Executive Board of Directors. “action pact is an important organization that’s helping meet the needs of Ware County residents, and its collaboration with AT&T in this effort is helping ensure that these laptops reach the families who need them most.”
“In today’s 21st century world, access to technology and digital skills is essential. Our mission at Ware County High School is to prepare our students with the skills necessary to compete in a diverse global society, and AT&T’s donation of laptops is helping equip our students with the digital tools they need to thrive in the classroom and beyond,” said Dr. Buford Tyrone Kellogg, Principal, Ware County High School. “With action pact and AT&T, we are helping ensure that our students have access to the resources and opportunities necessary to excel academically and prepare for a successful future. Being a former Trio student myself (with Student Support Services and the Upward Bound Program), I realize the importance of all Trio Programs that help students prepare for college. I feel very confident that with community partners like AT&T, working along with action pact’s Trio Program, many of our low-income and first-generation college students will become successful college graduates and productive citizens in years to come here in Southeast Georgia.”
“At action pact, we believe in the promise of improving lives and strengthening communities, and this donation from AT&T is a shining example of that mission in action. These laptops will provide Waycross youth and families with vital tools to succeed in education, advance their careers and overcome setbacks that many in our community face,” said Diane Rogers, Executive Director, action pact. “With these laptops, we are not only empowering individuals but creating opportunities that ensure everyone has a chance to thrive.”
This effort is part of the AT&T Connected Learning® initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
“AT&T is committed to helping close the digital divide, and we are proud to support the Waycross community by collaborating with action pact to provide laptops and digital resources to local youth and families,” said Gary Sanchez, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “Through this collaboration, we are creating pathways of success for youth and connecting more Georgians to greater possibility.”
