City to Host Community Meetings to Receive Input on Walking Tour Pilot Program

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, January 13th, 2025

The City of Savannah’s Office of Special Events, Film, and Tourism will hold three public meetings, on Jan. 13 and Jan. 15, to receive input from the community on a new pilot program that will modify regulations on walking tours.

The proposed Walking Tour Ordinance modifications, constructed in cooperation with the Tourism Advisory Committee and an ad-hoc Walking Tour Committee, will address concerns about noise, residential disturbances, and the viability of local walking tour companies.

The pilot program will be initiated on Feb. 1 for a 90-day trial and will include key modifications to the current regulations in place including restricting walking tours to south of Liberty St. after 10 p.m. and setting a cut-off time of 1 a.m. for all walking tours.

All residents and walking tour industry employees interested in learning more about the pilot program are welcome to attend the events and provide comment. For questions, call 912-351-3737 Ext. 1888.
