The City of Port Wentworth Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to have been awarded the 2024 GRPA-Hawks Partnership Grant. This grant will directly fund the youth basketball season and is made possible through the partnership of the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) with the Atlanta Hawks and the Hawks Foundation.

One of 43 agencies across the state of Georgia to receive the funding, the Port Wentworth Parks and Recreation Department will now be able to grow a higher quality program in the community. The youth basketball program teaches technique, sportsmanship, fundamentals, and rules, providing the city's youth an opportunity to learn through healthy competition. Girls and boys from the ages of three to 16 are encouraged to participate in the youth basketball practices and games.

“We are excited to have received this grant and look forward to seeing the impact it will have on our community,” said Tiffany Lancaster, Director of Port Wentworth Parks and Recreations Department. “This funding will help us offer more opportunities for our young athletes to grow, both on and off the court, and we are so proud to be a part of such a positive initiative.”
