Meredith Stone, a recognized leader in Savannah’s architectural, urban development, and real estate community, has been elected Vice-Chair of the Chatham County Zoning Board of Appeals. The Board of Appeals hears and decides upon appeals where a member of the public alleges there is error in an order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Zoning Administrator in the enforcement of the County’s Zoning Ordinances.

Known for her commitment to sustainable growth and community-focused projects, Stone’s appointment marks a significant moment for the Board and the community it serves. Her leadership promises to bring an understanding and results-driven approach to the Board during a critical period of growth for Chatham County. Her strong vision for accountable and community-focused leadership will undoubtedly shape the board’s decisions.

Stone, a Savannah native, brings a wealth of experience to this role. A graduate of Hampton University with a Master of Architecture degree, she has spent nearly a decade shaping Savannah - Chatham County’s fabric and contributing to its built-environment. As a designer at Gunn Meyerhoff Shay Architects, she has managed a wide range of developments for housing, hospitality, civic and commercial use. Her role as a Director at the Vantosh Commercial Group of Seabolt Real Estate strongly shapes her perspective of the value of zoning and land-use for this region.

Her efforts to uplift the next generation of leaders and her advocacy for smart, sustainable building growth have earned her widespread respect. “I look forward to continuing to serve on this Board to help safeguard the identity and integrity of our community while preparing for a bright future,” said Stone. “I’m honored to serve as Vice-Chair and am committed to helping ensure Chatham County develops responsibly and equitably for all residents.”

A professional with an eye for detail, skilled businesswoman and a heart for service, Stone’s bold yet measured approach to governance makes her a crucial voice for Chatham County’s future. As Vice-Chair, she will bring her considerable expertise and principled perspective to the forefront of zoning decisions that will define the County for years to come.

In addition to her professional expertise, Stone has made a name for herself as a community advocate. She serves on the board for the Creative Coast and is a member of the Urban Land Institute. She also served on the Savannah Housing Task Force and mentors young people through organizations like 100 Black Men and Delta Gems. Her work earned her recognition as a “Top 40 Under 40” honoree and she is a featured TEDx speaker.
