Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) has been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education’s 2023-2024 lists of Distinguished and Reward Schools. The Distinguished Schools designation recognizes the highest-performing Title I schools in Georgia. The Reward Schools designation recognizes Title I schools making the most significant improvements. SCA is the only school in the district to be included on the Distinguished Schools list.

Distinguished Schools are among the highest-performing 5% of Title I schools, based on the combined ELA and math content mastery scores from the statewide assessments in 2022-2023. Reward Schools are among the greatest-improving 5% of Title I Schoolwide and Title I Targeted Assistance schools when comparing the content mastery scores from the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 of statewide assessments. SCA is one of only six schools statewide to be recognized with both designations.

“I am very proud of our students and faculty,” said SCA Chief Executive Officer Barry Lollis. “This independent validation proves that SCA’s classical model and practices successful. We continue to be a sound investment and a best choice for families in our community.”

SCA is a K-12 school which is open to all students residing in Chatham County, is funded with public funds as provided by a charter that allows it to operate autonomously under a board of parents and community members. It is the philosophy of Savannah Classical Academy that all students benefit from a rigorous, content-rich, educational program that develops academic potential and personal character. Significant superior scoring and the recent accolades in being named a Literacy Leader and Math Leader demonstrate the excellent results of this approach. The school provides an environment that fosters academic excellence through the habits of thoroughness, the willingness to work, and the perseverance to complete difficult tasks. Through a defined traditional, classical curriculum, students are prepared to become active, responsible members of their community. The school is open to all students living in Chatham County via a lottery. Families are encouraged to join the wait list for the 2024-25 school year and to apply for the 2025-2026 school year.
