Savannah Mayor Van Johnson Elected Second Vice President of National League of Cities

The National League of Cities (NLC) Board of Directors has elected Savannah Mayor Van R. Johnson, II as the organization’s new Second Vice President.
The milestone, decided in a special election held on Dec. 19, places Mayor Johnson in a key leadership role within the NLC and underscores his commitment to advancing the interests of local governments across the nation.
“This is not just an honor for me but a recognition of the City of Savannah’s voice on the national stage,” said Mayor Johnson. “As we face shared challenges and opportunities, I am committed to collaborating with my colleagues to champion policies that empower our communities and improve the lives of our residents.”
Mayor Johnson was also named one of Georgia Trend’s 2025 Most Influential Georgians for the fourth consecutive year. This prestigious recognition underscores Mayor Johnson’s enduring impact on Savannah and the state of Georgia through his dynamic leadership and unwavering dedication to public service.
