Savannah’s Job Market Climbs to 208,900 as Unemployment Drops to 2.8%

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Savannah recorded an unemployment rate of 2.8 percent in December, down two-tenths of a percent over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 2.4 percent.

The labor force decreased in Savannah by 799 over-the-month and ended December with 201,871. That number increased by 813 when compared to December of 2023.
Savannah finished the month with 196,245 employed residents. That number decreased by 313 over-the-month and rose by 112 when compared to the same time last year.
Savannah ended December with 208,900 jobs, an all-time high. Jobs increased by 300 over-the-month and rose by 1,600 when compared to this time last year.
In December, initial unemployment claims increased by 132 over-the-month and were up by 59 compared to the same month last year, totaling 574.
