Live Oak Public Libraries invites the community to celebrate Black History Month with free programs and events for people of all ages.
Scheduled:
"Gullah Geechee History & Culture" with Dr. Joyce White. 5:00 PM, Monday, February 3rd at Pooler Library and Monday, 5:30 PM February 24th at Oglethorpe Mall Library
"Black History Jeopardy" 3 PM, Tuesday, February 4th at Midway-Riceboro Library
"Storytime with Antwan Eady," 10:30 AM Saturday, February 8th at the Bull Street Library and 4 PM Thursday, February 13th at the Springfield Library
"From Then Until Now: A Memoir of Eight Savannahians." Panel discussion and book signing in partnership with the Savannah African Art Museum and the Savannah Black Heritage Festival. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Discussion begins at 6 PM Thursday, February 12 at Bull Street Library
"Tracing Your Roots," presented in conjunction with the Savannah African Art Museum. 11 AM Saturday, February15th at Bull Street Library. Pre-registration required.
"The Civil Rights Movement in Georgia: Storytelling through Historical Markers" presented in partnership with the Georgia Historical Society. 11 AM Wednesday, February 26th at Bull Street Library
"Hidden Legacy: Black Jockeys in Horse Racing," 3:30 PM Wednesday, February 26th at Port City Library
"Black History Month Trivia and Bingo," 4 PM, Thursday, February 27 at Southwest Chatham Library
"After Hours at LOPL with Savannah Jazz Ambassador Teddy Adams" and his band. Thursday, Feb, 27th. Doors open at 6:30 PM. concert at 7 PM at Bull Street Library
"This year, there is truly something for everyone at every age to celebrate Black History Month," said Betsy McCullar, Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships. "It is amazing to work with partners like the Georgia Historical Society, the Savannah African Arts Museum and the Black Heritage Festival and to share the rich talent of Coastal Georgia with our community.
"We are especially thrilled to expand our "After Hours," programming, with Teddy Adams, live in concert at Bull Street."
