Dr. Pamela Gaudry was recently selected to participate in the Coastal Georgia Alzheimer’s Association local event “Dancing with the Stars.” The annual fundraiser will be held on May 17, 2025 at the Savannah Convention and Trade Center. 

Alzheimer Disease is a degenerating brain disease of uncertain cause that primarily affects older adults and is the most common cause of dementia. The earliest clinical manifestation of Alzheimer’s is usually selective memory impairment, although some patients present with changes in executive function (i.e. the inability to balance a checkbook, make changes, or organize things). While treatments are available that can slow progression and ameliorate some symptoms of the illness, there is no cure, and the disease inevitably progresses in all patients through moderate and severe dementia, requiring increasing levels of care and support for activities of daily living. 

Dr. Gaudry currently serves as the Primary Care Physician for Coastal Care Partners. An advocate of the medical community, Dr. Gaudry has been a member of the Georgia Medical Society, executive board of the Medical Association of Georgia, and in the inaugural class of the Georgia Physician Leadership Academy. In addition, she has lobbied health issues in Washington, D.C. and at the Georgia State Legislature. 

Regarding her participation in this event, Dr. Gaudry notes, “As Alzheimer’s Disease research continues, my hope is that we one day find a cure. The statistics can be disheartening as one in three seniors dies of Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. In honor of the many patients I have served over the years, I am committed to raising both funds and awareness for the Coastal Georgia Alzheimer’s Association and pray for these patients and caregivers as they struggle daily with this progressive disease.”
