Sue Else, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of

Historic Georgia (GSHG), has announced her decision to retire, effective May 15, 2025. After 11

years of dedicated leadership, Else is leaving behind a legacy of innovation and commitment to

helping Girl Scouts across Georgia grow into confident leaders.

“It has been an incredible honor to serve as the CEO of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia,” said Else.

“Over the years, I have been inspired by the passion, resilience, and achievements of our Girl

Scouts, volunteers, and staff. While this chapter is coming to a close, I will always cherish the

memories we have made together. I look forward to seeing the council continue to grow and

thrive in the years ahead.”

Under Else’s leadership, GSHG has accomplished several key initiatives that have extended its

reach, engaging more girls and volunteers across Georgia and enhancing its community impact.

These accomplishments include the successful launch of the council’s first Girl Scout

DreamLabs in 2024, the opening of the state-of-the-art GIRL Center in Savannah in 2021,

preserving strong membership even in the challenging aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic,

and strengthening the council’s financial stability.

“We are grateful for Sue’s contributions to Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia,” said Jeff Wilson, chair

of the GSHG Board of Directors. “Her vision, passion, and commitment to our mission have

strengthened our council and inspired countless girls and volunteers. While we will miss her

leadership, we celebrate Sue’s legacy and wish her the very best.”

The Board of Directors has initiated a comprehensive search for the next CEO, ensuring a

smooth and seamless transition. GSHG remains steadfast in its commitment to deliver

exceptional programming and opportunities for Girl Scouts across Georgia, empowering them to

become girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

To celebrate Else’s remarkable tenure, she will be honored at GSHG’s annual Legacy of

Leadership breakfast in Savannah on May 14, 2025. The annual fundraising event is open to the
