Hinesville’s Unemployment Rate Drops to 3.1% in December

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Hinesville recorded an unemployment rate of 3.1 percent in December, down three-tenths of a percent over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 2.8 percent.

The labor force in Hinesville decreased by 236 over the month but increased by 281 over the year, reaching 34,851.

Hinesville finished December with 33,763 employed residents, down 130 over the month and up 163 over the year.

Hinesville ended December with 22,400 jobs, down by 100 over-the-month but up by 200 over-the-year.

Initial unemployment claims in Hinesville increased by 54 over-the-month and were up 18 over-the-year, totaling 129.
