The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society Announces New President and its Board of Directors

The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) is pleased to announce its Board of Directors. Candy Bogardus, who co-founded the organization in 2006, will serve as President.
The newly elected officers are:
Candy Bogardus – President (new)
Jason Ambrose – Vice President (new)
Stephen Greene – Treasurer
Martha Martinez – Secretary (new)
Candy Bogardus, the newly elected President of the Board of Directors, began her career as a Registered Nurse in PICU and NICU among other areas inside and outside the hospital and is currently employed by Michael’s. She is a founding member of LDSS along with her husband, John. Candy and John have 3 beautiful children- Charlie and Mason (24 year old twins) and Princess Lainey (20 years old with an extra chromosome!)
Jason Ambrose, newly elected Vice President of the Board of LDSS, is employed at Ferguson Industrial as an Outside Sales Representative. He has an amazing wife, Laura, and six children, Wesley, Christopher, Gracen, Addison, Kipton, and Josie (also with an extra chromosome!).
Stephen Greene, Treasurer, is the CFO of Stage Front, with offices in Savannah and throughout the south, which serves the technology needs of architects, engineers, contractors and strategic partners with audio-visual system and event design.
Martha Martinez, Secretary for the Board, works for Effingham County Middle School as an 8th grade Special Education Math Teacher. She is married to Hugo and has two girls, Musme (also with an extra chromosome!) and Nicole.
Additional board members include, in no particular order, Dr. Ben Spitalnick, Harris Martin, Joe Marchese, Nicole Allen, Michael Holton and Brendan Ferrara.
The newly elected officers will each serve a term of three years. Their role will be to further the mission of the organization to champion acceptance for people with Down syndrome and their families through support groups, outreach, education, and advocacy. The Vision of the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society is to imagine a world in which people with Down syndrome experience rich, full lives as valued members of welcoming communities.
