Savannah Book Festival Announces Headliner Series & Free Festival Saturday

The 18th Savannah Book Festival kicks off on Thursday, February 6 with its ticketed Headliner Events and runs through Sunday, February 9 in Historic Downtown Savannah. Festival Saturday, February 8, with free admission, is the biggest of Savannah Book Festival’s planned events. Festival Saturday starts at 9AM at several downtown venues and features more than 40 renowned authors.
During Festival Saturday, authors will give 30 to 40 minute presentations where they discuss their subjects, creative process, and life as a writer, followed by a Q&A and book signing. Author presentations begin at 9 AM. Food trucks at Telfair, Wright, and Chippewa Squares will be available for delicious refreshments between presentations.
Festival Saturday venue locations include City of Savannah Cultural Arts Center, Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, First Baptist Church, Jepson Center Neises Auditorium, The Savannah Theatre, and Trinity United Methodist Church. Headliner Addresses are ticketed events at the Lucas Theatre. Anna Quindlen will provide the Opening Address on Thursday, February 6 at 6:30PM; Sebastian Junger will provide the Keynote Address on Friday, February 7 at 6PM; and Ben Mezrich will deliver the Closing Address on Sunday, February 9 at 2PM. The Headliner Events cost $30 and include 45-minute presentations by the featured authors on their creative process and life as a writer, followed by a Q&A and book signing.
SBF@Schools, the Festival’s community engagement program, brings authors to Savannah a day early to visit area schools and to help ignite student’s passion for the written word. Over half of the authors volunteered to participate in SBF@Schools to discuss their early educational experiences, and influences and successes in their writing lives with local middle and high school students as well as college students.
