Savannah-Chatham Co. Public Schools Table Vote to Opt Out of Homestead Exemption

After a lengthy debate, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System deciding to table its vote to opt out of the statewide homestead exemption.
Several board members had different views about what they felt would best serve taxpayers in Savannah and Chatham County. Some saying that following the new state law is the way to go, others saying sticking with Stephens-Day, which is what the city of Savannah and Chatham County have been using since 1999, is best because it’s what locals are used to.
