Savannah Technical College (Savannah Tech), the premier provider of career-ready technical education in Coastal Georgia, successfully revived its annual Black History Extravaganza. Held in the Eckburg Auditorium on the main Savannah campus, the event was facilitated by Kwajalein Roberson Harmon and celebrated African American history, culture and community.

The Extravaganza featured a dynamic program, including an impactful African drumming performance by Nun Fula, an insightful presentation on the history of recreation and its impact on the Black community in Chatham County by Stephanie Sykes Davis and a captivating hand and line dance performance by Stephanie Sykes Davis and Tonya Sherman. Harmon delivered a powerful poem and storytelling session as well. 

Notably, the event drew enthusiastic participation from a diverse range of students across the college, highlighting the inclusive spirit of the celebration. Students from programs as varied as welding and cosmetology were present.

Savannah Tech, known for providing specialized training for in-demand careers, highlighted its range of programs designed to meet the needs of the community and prepare students for real-world opportunities. From healthcare programs like Nursing and Allied Health, to skilled trades like Robotics, Welding and Construction, to business and technology programs like Cybersecurity and Logistics, Savannah Tech provides pathways to learn practical skills that lead to real-world opportunities. The college is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve their educational and career goals.

The Black History Extravaganza was free and open to the public, and a well-attended reception with refreshments followed the program. Attendees had the opportunity to network and engage with the presenters, faculty and staff to learn more about Savannah Tech’s award winning programs.
