Savannah's Singing Competition Announces 2025 Winners!

The American Traditions Vocal Competition (ATC) is proud to announce that Nia Drummond, Soprano, has been awarded the Gold Medal and $12,000 grand prize, sponsored by Danny Cohen, at the 2025 competition. This year's competition took place from January 27-31, 2025 in Savannah, GA. Nia’s breathtaking performances captivated both the judges and audience, securing her place as this year’s champion. Ms. Drummond has performed with music legends such as Sir Elton John & John Legend, appeared in symphonic works and operas led by James Levine and Lorin Maazel, and has performed for three presidents and various government officials. She has been featured on television shows such as Tamron Hall, Access Hollywood, and Great Performances on PBS and has collaborated with artists such as Samora Pinderhughes and Josh Groban.
Taking home the Silver Medal and a $6,000 prize, sponsored by Diana Lee Langer Jones, is Jesse Nager, Countertenor, whose dynamic vocal artistry showcased the spirit of American music. Jesse is the Founder and Artistic Director of Broadway Boys, and has appeared on Broadway as Smokie Robinson in Motown, in Scandalous, Xanadu, Mary Poppins and others. Emily Redden, Soprano, claimed the Bronze Medal and a $3,000 award, generously sponsored by Nancy McGirr and David Goslin, with her compelling and expressive performances.
In addition, Tally Sessions, Baritenor, was awarded 4th place, while Schyler Vargas, Baritenor, took home 5th place, both demonstrating exceptional vocal talent and musicality throughout the competition. Tally is currently in the cast of A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical on Broadway, and Schyler is a rising star in the operatic, having performed in Ricky Ian Gordon's The Grapes of Wrath at Carnegie Hall, Candide at Wichita Grand Opera, and Die Fledermaus at Pacific Opera Project.
The ATC continues its mission of celebrating and preserving the diverse traditions of American music, offering vocalists a platform to showcase their artistry across multiple genres. The competition draws elite vocalists from around the country, each demonstrating mastery of American musical heritage.
