Attorney Wade Herring Honored with Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service

Herring II was recently named a recipient of the Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service, presented by the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism. Since 1998, these prestigious statewide awards have been presented to honor lawyers and judges in Georgia who have made significant contributions to their communities and who demonstrate the positive contributions of members of the State Bar of Georgia beyond their legal or official work.
With nearly 40 years of experience in employment law, Wade’s practice focuses on internal employment practices, wage and hour compliance, drug testing, sexual harassment, equal employment opportunity, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and employee benefits. He is widely recognized for his skill in both litigation and preventive counseling, helping clients resolve disputes in federal and state courts as well as administrative investigations and mediations.
Wade has played a leading role in numerous community and civic organizations including leadership roles with Georgia Legal Services, Chatham-Savannah Citizen Advocacy, the Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire, and Leadership Southeast Georgia. He is also a past president of the Savannah Bar Association and has been active with the University of Georgia School of Law Alumni Association Council. He has been deeply involved with both Savannah Country Day School and Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, serving in multiple leadership roles and chairing various committees. In 2024, he was also recognized as Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Safety Valve Project for his advocacy on behalf of public-school students facing disciplinary actions.
