Coastal Heritage Society (CHS) announces the appointments of Molly Curley as the local nonprofit organizations’ new Marketing Manager and Eric Nelson as the new Interpretation Manager.
Curley is a highly motivated marketing professional who brings over seven years of media experience to Coastal Heritage Society. As the Marketing Manager of this nonprofit and its six historic museums, she is responsible for executing strategic campaigns and enhancing brand recognition locally, regionally and nationally. Previously, Curley was the Digital Executive Producer of WSAV-TV, an affiliate of NBC and Nexstar Media Group, Inc. There, she was responsible for ensuring the immediacy and accuracy of daily online news coverage across multiple platforms. Curley is eager to bring her journalistic background to the nonprofit sector and help preserve the history of the city in which she was raised.
In his professional career, Nelson spent seven years in Boston at the Museum of Science as an Education Associate. In this role, he developed and presented hands-on programming for the museum's temporary exhibits, including Maya: Hidden Worlds Revealed and Da Vinci: The Genius. He joined Coastal Heritage Society in 2022 as the Guest Services Manager for Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children's Museum. He is excited to lend his expertise in educational program development and his passion for history and archaeology to continue building CHS's Historical Interpretive offerings. He lives with his wife and son in Bluffton, SC, and in his spare time, he enjoys gardening, whittling, and playing with his son.
“Our team is delighted to welcome Molly Curley as the new Marketing Manager and to confirm Eric Nelson’s new role as our Interpretation Manager,” said Nora Lee, CEO of CHS. “With Molly’s extensive media experience and Eric’s deep understanding of history, their passion and leadership abilities will contribute to the continued growth and success of Coastal Heritage Society.”
Curley was recognized by the Radio Television Digital News Association with a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award and the Georgia Association of Broadcasters for Best Online Breaking News Coverage. She is a graduate of Mercer University’s Center for Collaborative Journalism where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies.
Nelson joins CHS from Deep River, CT, a town known for being a historic hub of imported ivory and exported ivory goods both along the Connecticut River and in the U.S. as a whole. Nelson holds a Bachelor's Degree from The University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he studied History and Classical Studies. He also has two Master's degrees, one in Archaeology from The University of Liverpool and the other in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University. During his academic career, Eric maintained a love for languages and material culture. He studied Latin, Greek, Akkadian, and Biblical Hebrew. He also excavated in Jordan in the summers of 2013 and 2014 at the sites of Dhiban and Busayra.
