Tuesday, March 4th, 2025
The City of Port Wentworth took part in a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate a new shopping plaza at the heart of its new commercial district. Port Wentworth Council members Rufus Bright, Thomas Barbee, and Shawn Randerwala, Mayor Pro Tem Gabrielle Nelson, City Manager Steve Davis and other city representatives, with The Dewitt Tilton Group and CentryStone Capital, and other community members gathered to commemorate this important development for the region.
“This is another exciting day for everybody living or working in Port Wentworth,” said Council Member Rufus Bright. “This investment in the district I am proud to represent, will provide more facilities for residents as our city continues to grow.”
The new shopping plaza will become a hub for restaurants and retail businesses and the groundbreaking signifies more positive news about planned growth in the fast-developing City of Port Wentworth. New business and leisure facilities such as the training facility for professional minor league hockey team, The Ghost Pirates, Anchor Park and the planned new amphitheater are attracting new residents every day.
“The city continues to invest in the infrastructure in Port Wentworth and we are attracting more retail and leisure businesses to meet the needs of our residents. The commercial district, which is close to I95 and Hwy 21, will become an important hub for our region,” said City Manager, Steve Davis.
