At first glance, it appears that Savannah-Chatham County Public School System's teacher vacancies have doubled since it reported 75 open positions in early August. However that number could be significantly off according to a report expected to be shared during the board's meeting Wednesday, March 5

At the school system's July media day event, members of its human resources team informed the Savannah Morning News that the district had approximately 187 teacher vacancies. After a report ran, Chief Public Affairs & Administrative Services Officer Kurt Hetager and Superintendent Denise Watts said, during the first day of school press conference, that there had been a “discrepancy" in the vacancy data that was shared.
