Savannah Reports a 3.0% Unemployment Rate for January 2025

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Savannah recorded an unemployment rate of 3.0 percent in January, up two-tenths of a percent over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 3.0 percent.

The labor force increased in Savannah by 142 over-the-month and ended January with 208,742. That number increased by 402 when compared to January of 2024.
Savannah finished the month with 202,568 employed residents. That number decreased by 283 over-the-month and rose by 393 when compared to the same time last year.
Savannah ended January with 205,700 jobs. Jobs decreased by 3,800 over-the-month and rose by 1,900 when compared to this time last year.
In January, initial unemployment claims increased by 98 over-the-month and were down by 113 compared to the same month last year, totaling 672.
