Savannah Tech Joins Statewide Effort to Waive Application Fees, Highlights Growing Career Programs

In an effort to increase access to higher education, Savannah Technical College (Savannah Tech), the premier provider of career-ready technical education and workforce development in Coastal Georgia, is participating in a statewide initiative to waive application fees through the end of March. The move, part of the Georgia Apply to College program, aims to remove financial barriers for prospective students across the Coastal Empire.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC)in collaboration with the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia, focuses on supporting first-generation and underrepresented students. By eliminating application fees, the program seeks to encourage more individuals to explore post-secondary education opportunities.

Savannah Tech is offering this fee waiver for all its programs, including those in healthcare, manufacturing, business, and technology. The college has seen consistent enrollment growth, reflecting the region's demand for skilled labor.

Among the fastest-growing programs at Savannah Tech are:

  • Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology: The college is expanding training in response to the increasing demand for EV manufacturing and maintenance.

  • Aviation: Programs are growing to support the region's aerospace sector.

  • Commercial Driving: Expansion of facilities has allowed for increased training capacity.

  • Cybersecurity: The college is addressing the growing need for digital security professionals.

  • Culinary Arts: The new Savannah Culinary Institute at 7 West Bay is expected to significantly increase enrollment.

  • Manufacturing & Robotics: The college’s rebranded Automation and Robotics program is focused on advanced manufacturing skills.

  • Nursing: Including a new accelerated RN program and expanded facilities.

 

Savannah Tech is also expanding its physical footprint, with ongoing projects in Liberty and Effingham counties, including new labs and the Jack Hill Conference Center.
