Blue Edge Business Solutions is proud to announce the launch of its new quarterly art exhibition series with the opening of The BE Exhibition, a solo exhibition featuring Savannah-based abstract artist Calvin Woodum. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Blue Edge Studio, located at 300 Drayton Street.

This first-of-its-kind event at Blue Edge marks the beginning of an ongoing initiative to support and spotlight the incredible talent within Savannah’s creative community. The BE Exhibition reflects both the name of the hosting organization and Woodum’s personal artistic philosophy — to simply be. The show features selected works from multiple series, including What’s Left Behind and EVOO, offering viewers a chance to explore Woodum’s vibrant, layered approach to abstract art.

A respected figure in the local art scene, Calvin Woodum has been involved with Savannah’s creative institutions for over two decades, including his tenure at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and the Telfair Museums. As former Chair of the Friends of African American Art (FAAA), Woodum has championed cultural dialogue and community engagement through the arts. His work is renowned for blending color theory, fashion influences, and emotional narratives into striking contemporary pieces.

The evening will include light refreshments, small bites, and an intimate Q&A session with the artist, where guests will learn about his creative process, inspirations, and reflections on the local art community. All artwork will be available for purchase, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the artist.

Admission is free, but space is limited to 30 guests, and RSVP is required. To ensure an enjoyable experience for all, guests are encouraged to release their ticket at least 48 hours in advance if they are unable to attend.

Parking: A garage is located next door, and free street parking is available downtown on weekends. Age Requirement: Guests must show ID to receive alcoholic beverages at the event.
