Historic Mars Theatre Presents Special Easter Weekend Screenings of The King of Kings

The Historic Mars Theatre invites families and audiences of all ages to a unique and inspiring cinematic experience this Easter weekend, April 18-20. The beloved story of the New Testament comes to life on the big screen in The King of Kings, presented by Angel Studios.
The animated feature is inspired by the short story “The Life of Our Lord” by Charles Dickens and the story of Jesus Christ, offers a fresh retelling of a timeless message. The film’s closing credits feature the inspirational song “Live Like That,” co-written and powerfully performed by the Tony and Emmy award winning Kristin Chenoweth.
The film features voice-talents from a star-studded cast. The King of Kings features Oscar Isaac as Jesus Christ, Kenneth Branagh as Charles Dickens, Uma Thurman as Catherine Dickens, Mark Hamill as King Herod, Pierce Brosnan as Pontius Pilate, Forest Whitaker as Peter, Ben Kingsley as High Priest Caiaphas, and Roman Griffin Davis as Walter Dickens. Even the Dickens’ cat, Willa, makes an unforgettable appearance as a scene-stealer!
In The King of Kings, renowned storyteller Charles Dickens struggles to bond with his imaginative son, Walter. After an interruption during one of Dickens’ readings, he decides to share the story of Jesus Christ, hoping to bridge the gap between them. As Dickens narrates, Walter becomes immersed in the life of Jesus, witnessing His miracles, facing His trials, and understanding His ultimate sacrifice. This life-changing journey deepens the bond between father and son, illuminating the power of faith, love, and redemption.
