Today, Memorial Health leaders presented a check for $15,000 to Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. The check presentation took place during Memorial Health’s annual “We Show Up for our Communities” week of volunteerism.
“Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia is a vital resource for those in our region who face food insecurity and we are proud to support their good work,” said Brad Talbert, CEO of Memorial Health. “To date, we have contributed $65,000 from our Community Benefit Fund to help Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia feed low-income families, senior citizens and others who face hunger.”
This year’s grant is a symbolic gift in honor of Memorial Health’s upcoming 70th anniversary. Second Harvest is able to provide five meals for $1. Memorial Health’s gift is meaningful in that it will provide more than 70,000 meals to those in need in our community.
Memorial Health joined HCA Healthcare on February 1, 2018. At that time, a Community Benefit Fund was established to provide much-needed financial resources to organizations that are working to improve our community. The fund totals $2.5 million and $250,000 is awarded each year to help agencies continue the good work they do. To date, Memorial Health has contributed more than $1.8M from its Community Benefit Fund, supporting 47 worthwhile organizations.
