Savannah Sees Job Market Gains, Unemployment Drops to 3.2% in March

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Savannah recorded an unemployment rate of 3.2% in March, down one-tenth over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.0%.
“In March, Georgians from every corner of the state stepped up, joining the workforce and filling critical jobs that drive our state’s economy forward,” said Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. "By working with regional partners across the state, we’re creating a globally competitive workforce — one that’s built to last and ready to lead Georgia into its next phase of prosperity."
The labor force in Savannah increased by 857 from the previous month and ended March at 208,919. That number decreased by 2,971 from March 2024.
Savannah finished the month with 202,201 employed residents. That number increased by 923 from the previous month and decreased by 3,261 from the same time last year.
Savannah ended March with 206,300 jobs. Jobs increased by 100 from the previous month and fell by 1,100 from the same time last year.
In March, initial unemployment claims decreased by 45 from the previous month and by 4 from the same month a year ago, totaling 486.
