Park Place Outreach, Inc., a Savannah nonprofit that provides services to at-risk youth and their families, recently announced it will serve as the new licensed agency for Safe Place® in Chatham County, ensuring continued access to safety and support for teens in crisis. The previous Safe Place® agency – Greenbriar Children’s Center – is refocusing its efforts on early childcare services.

“Transitions in community services must always prioritize the well-being of those served — especially youth in crisis,” said Laurie Padilla, President and CEO of National Safe Place Network. “National Safe Place Network is grateful to Park Place Outreach for stepping forward to lead the Safe Place® program in Chatham County with compassion, innovation, and a strong commitment to youth safety. We are confident this critical service remains in dedicated and capable hands. NSPN also extends its gratitude to Greenbriar Children’s Center for their past efforts in supporting youth through Safe Place and for their participation in the transition of this vital program.”

Safe Place® is a nationally recognized outreach and prevention program that connects young people with immediate help in times of crisis. Designated locations—including convenience stores, libraries, public transit stops, and community centers—display the recognizable yellow and black Safe Place sign. Youth can also text SAFE + their location to 4HELP (44357) to access support 24/7.

As the new lead agency, Park Place Outreach will coordinate Safe Place® implementation and response across the county. Safe Place locations in Chatham County include:

  • Schools: Many schools participate in the Safe Place program.

  • Fire Stations: Fire stations are designated Safe Place locations.
  • Libraries: Public libraries in Chatham County are Safe Place sites.
  • Other youth-friendly organizations: Additional youth-serving organizations are included in the Safe Place network.
