SA Recycling Savannah-Tremont, one of Georgia’s largest metal recycling companies locations, presented a $1000 check to James “Bubba” Shaw, the founder of A Wish to Walk Foundation on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

“We buy scrap metal material from industrial and commercial accounts along with customers from the area that we call peddlers who bring us everything from automobiles, household appliances and any form of scrap metal in exchange for money. One of our regular customers is Bubba Shaw. When we heard his inspirational story, we wanted to support his A Wish to Walk Foundation by giving him preferred pricing and a $1000 check,” shared SA Recycling Tremont-Savannah General Manager Dorsey West.

Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at 2 years old, James “Bubba” Shaw has been wheelchair bound for 37 years and founded A Wish to Walk Foundation in 2004. His 501C3 nonprofit is dedicated to providing canes, bedside commodes, walkers, electric wheelchairs and scooters to veterans, adults and children with special needs and financially challenged individuals. The funds created from collecting and selling scrap metal pay for these mobility devices.

“I have spent my adult life helping people in need. Being in a wheelchair can be limiting for some people but my personal struggles give me a better understanding of what needs to be done to get wheelchairs for people in need. The scrap metal donations that we collect and sell to SA Recycling help pay for these necessary supplies. We have been given trolley cars, semi tractors, shipping containers, Ac units, refrigerators and everyday appliances from all over the state. Working with a company that sees what we are doing makes it easier to help more people,” shares A Wish to Walk Foundation Founder James “Bubba” Shaw.
