UGA Alumni Association Savannah Chapter Announces Tubby’s Tank House as Official Game-Watching Spot for 2025 Football Season
Friday, July 25th, 2025
The Savannah Chapter of the University of Georgia Alumni Association has announced Tubby’s Tank House in Thunderbolt as the official game-watching location for UGA football for the 2025 season.
Overlooking the Wilmington River, Tubby’s Tank House has long been a favorite local spot, known for its atmosphere, coastal comfort food, and Southern hospitality. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar, and a menu filled with favorites like fresh-caught seafood and local shrimp, Tubby’s offers the ideal setting for alumni and fans to come together and call the Dawgs.
“Tubby’s came up again and again when we talked to people about where to host,” said Christopher Sweat, President of the Savannah Chapter. “It feels like a natural fit for us—good food, good people, plenty of parking, and the kind of place where you want to spend a Saturday cheering on the Dawgs. We’re excited to partner with the folks at Tubby’s and we think fans who show up will soon see why.”
“This is more than just a place to watch the game. It’s a place to connect,” said Josh Gannam, Vice President of the Savannah Chapter. “Whether you're a lifelong Savannah Dawg or new to the area, we hope you’ll come out, wear your red and black, and be part of it.”
Fans can look forward to a spirited atmosphere, plenty of Georgia Bulldogs swag, and all the game day energy you'd expect from a true UGA gathering. With great food, drinks, and maybe a few fun surprises in the works, Saturdays at Tubby’s will be all about celebrating Georgia football, loud and proud.
“Our chapter (which includes Chatham, Bryan and Effingham counties) includes a large and active group of alumni living and working across Coastal Georgia, and while football brings us together, our mission goes beyond game day,” said Sweat. “We’re also actively working to fund a local scholarship to support area students attending UGA and to uphold the University’s broader mission of leadership, learning, research, and service throughout the state.”
The first game-watching party will kick off with Georgia’s season opener against the Marshall Thundering Herd at 3:30 PM on Saturday, Aug. 30. Fans are advised to get there early for the best swag and seats. All UGA alumni, fans, family, and friends are welcome.
