Friday, September 19th, 2025

Coastal Heritage Society’s (CHS) annual Battlefield Memorial March returns on Thursday, October 9, to honor those who fought in the 1779 Battle of Savannah, one of the Revolutionary War’s most pivotal conflicts.

The free, public event begins promptly at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Savannah History Museum (303 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard), one of six historic museums operated by CHS. March participants will retrace soldiers’ footsteps down West Boundary Street and along Louisville Road.

Following the march, a wreath-laying and remembrance ceremony will take place at Battlefield Memorial Park to honor the fallen.

“Each year, this tradition remembers the sacrifices these soldiers made in one of the American Revolution’s bloodiest battles,” said CHS CEO Nora Lee. “As we approach America’s 250th anniversary year, we are proud to share this part of Savannah’s history with the community.”

Coastal Heritage Society, a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 1975, is dedicated to educating the public through preservation and presentation of the history of coastal Georgia and surrounding regions. For more information about CHS, please visit chsgeorgia.org.
