Ribbon Cutting Officially Opens New D.E.H. Athletic Complex and Police Annex

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025

Students, district and school-based staff, elected officials, and those involved in it’s construction gathered to celebrate the official opening of the new athletic complex and BOEPD Annex at the Davis-Edwards-Harris Educational Complex.  Police officers, Board members, Groves High football players, and cheerleaders joined with the Superintendent to cut the ribbon before allowing tours of the new facilities.

The athletic facility will serve as a hub for physical development and school spirit, while the police annex strengthens the district’s dedication to campus security and collaboration with local law enforcement.  The athletic complex will host football and soccer games, along with track meets in the spring.  The police annex features the latest technology and meeting spaces perfect for collaboration with the community.

The event honored the vision, teamwork, and investment that brought the project to life – creating a space where students can thrive both athletically and academically in a safe and supportive environment.
