Savannah African Art Museum Announces Storytelling Time With Adrienne Reynolds - Oct. 4
Tuesday, September 30th, 2025
The Savannah African Art Museum is thrilled to welcome back Adrienne Reynolds for their “Story Time in the Garden” event on Saturday, October 4 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at 201 E. 37th Street. The presentation will be held in the Museum courtyard, with a backup plan to move to Yennenga Gallery in case of inclement weather.
Adrienne Reynolds is a gifted storyteller, singer, and actress, with the ability to inspire and engage all ages in the West African, Griot tradition of storytelling. Adrienne’s singing, energy, and passion bring these meaningful stories to life.
This event ties in perfectly with the museum’s current efforts to connect the community through their "Telling Your Story” virtual exhibit. Everyone has a story, and they are encouraged to share personal or ancestral stories through images, writing, or video, preserving and sharing untold stories acknowledging the depth of the African American experience.
Inspired by the Adinkra symbol “Sankofa” of the Akan people of Ghana meaning, “it is not taboo to go back and fetch what is at risk of being left behind,” or simply, “go back and fetch it!” They believe there is wisdom in learning from the past which ensures a strong future. This digital exhibit offers a platform for contributors to highlight stories—whether triumphant, challenging, inspirational, victorious or perhaps personal that deserves to be heard. By contributing to “Telling Your Story”, participants help build a growing archive of cultural memory and collective wisdom that honors the past while embracing the future. The deadline to submit to the virtual exhibit is October 15.
“We’re excited to have Adrienne back to share her gifts with the community, especially as we continue our mission to collect stories for our ‘Telling Your Story’ initiative,” said Lisa Jackson, the Museum’s Education and Community Outreach Liaison. “We invite everyone to join us for story time and contribute their own as we hope to connect generations and people through the power of narrative.”
