Expert Hearing Attends Academy of Doctors of Audiology Event on Capitol Hill
Wednesday, October 1st, 2025
Expert Hearing Owners and Doctors of Audiology Susan Timna and Cori Palmer recently attended the Academy of Doctors of Audiology Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. As part of this annual event, over 100 Doctors of Audiology from across the nation attended a lobby day on Capitol Hill to advocate for the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act.
According to documents provided by the Academy of Doctors of Audiology, this legislation will modernize Medicare to improve access to audiology care and better deploy limited healthcare resources, without sacrificing quality or efficacy. In addition, provisions in the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act would save the Medicare program $108 million over 10 years in duplicative services and save beneficiaries $36 million over 10 years in unnecessary co-pays. It would also bring Medicare coverage policies in line with evidence-based practices in the delivery of hearing and balance healthcare, while reducing unnecessary barriers to access for beneficiaries and unnecessary costs to the Medicare system.
“Dr. Palmer and I were so honored to represent our patients and their families in our nation’s capital,” said Dr. Susan Timna. “It is important that we all push for legislation that will not only make hearing healthcare affordable but also recognize the ties to hearing healthcare with other medical issues such as cognitive decline.”
