Georgia DOT Seeks Public Input for Proposed Roundabout Project on SR 30

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, October 14th, 2025

The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is seeking public comment on the proposed roundabout project, prior to approving an encroachment permit, in Effingham County. Effingham County is proposing to improve operations and reduce crashes at the intersection of State Route 30/Noel C. Conaway Road and Kolic Helmey Road.

Georgia DOT is hosting a virtual Public Information Open House (PIOH) by posting information related to the proposed project on an online platform at SR 30 - Noel C. Conaway Road at Kolic Helmey Road - Roundabout - 0020095. The purpose of this internet posting is to replace an in-person meeting, while allowing the public to review the proposed project and provide feedback.

A roundabout is proposed at the intersection of SR 30 and Kolic Helmey Road. A new road will be constructed on the south side of the intersection to connect to the new Brunson Station residential development. In addition to the roundabout crosswalks will be installed on all four legs of the intersection and they will be connected with multi-use paths around the roundabout.

Georgia DOT invites you to review the materials presented on the webpage and provide comment. Comments will be accepted concerning this project until Thursday, October 30. Written statements may be submitted to:
