Wednesday, October 1st, 2025
Thomas & Hutton (T&H), a 100%-employee-owned, privately held professional services firm known for its award-winning culture and nearly 80 years of shaping communities across the Southeast, is pleased to announce the promotion of Roby Morgan, PLS to Savannah Survey Group Leader, effective immediately.
Roby brings more than 30 years of experience in surveying and design, with a background that includes boundary, topographic, wetlands, and ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys. His work spans a wide range of project types, including transportation projects for the Georgia Department of Transportation and local municipalities. Roby is also experienced in GPS/GIS data collection, static network mission planning, and post-processing, and is proficient in AutoCAD Land Desktop, coordinate geometry software, GPS processing tools, and Microsoft Office. He is a registered Professional Land Surveyor in both Georgia and South Carolina and an active member of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia.
Roby’s leadership, technical depth, and collaborative spirit make him well-suited to lead the Savannah Survey team. His promotion marks an exciting chapter for the department as Thomas & Hutton continues to grow its surveying capabilities across the region.
This leadership transition follows the retirement announcement of Wright Powers, PLS who will retire from full-time work at the end of October. Wright has been an integral part of the Thomas & Hutton team for 22 years, serving as a respected leader, mentor, and advocate for the surveying profession. His contributions have left a lasting mark on the firm and the broader survey community. While stepping away from day-to-day operations, Wright will continue supporting the team and clients on a part-time basis over the next year, helping manage projects and provide continuity during the transition.
Thomas & Hutton is deeply grateful for Wright’s years of service and is excited to see Roby step into this
leadership role. The firm looks forward to continuing its commitment to exceptional survey services under Roby’s guidance and with Wright’s ongoing support
