Tuesday, October 21st, 2025
United Way of the Coastal Empire isseeking volunteers to join its Community Investment panels for the next grant cycle.
Each year, United Way of the Coastal Empire raises money for the Community Fund. The contributions go directly back into the community, allowing United Way to create real, lasting change by providing assistance to people facingurgent needs such as housing, food and other essentials, and by funding local nonprofit programs.
Community Investment volunteers evaluate local nonprofit programs to identifywhere Community Fund dollars can make the greatest impact. Volunteers receive training from United Way staff to review grant applications, meet with agencies, analyze program impact and complete evaluations which directly inform how Community Fund dollars are invested.
“Your commitment will make a significant difference in our community,” saidLauren Knight, vice president of community impact at United Way of the Coastal Empire. “No experience is needed, and training is provided. As long as you have the time, dedication and passion, you are qualified. We depend on volunteers across our community and hope you will consider joining us in this important effort.”
Knight noted that community investment volunteers return year after year, adding that their service helps them better understand their communities.United Way of the Coastal Empire needs 100 volunteers to help guide howfunds are invested throughout the five-county area. Volunteers are asked to commit approximately four hours per week from February through April 2026, with in-person participation encouraged and virtual engagement available for added flexibility.
