Volunteers Needed for Rivers Alive Cleanup

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, November 21st, 2025

The City of Savannah invites the public to participate in the 2025 Rivers Alive Cleanup on Saturday, Nov. 22 beginning at 8 a.m. at River’s End Landing, located at the end of Hurst Avenue, south of Montgomery Cross Road.

This local event is part of Georgia’s Annual Rivers Alive campaign, the state’s largest volunteer waterway cleanup initiative. The campaign brings together communities to protect and preserve Georgia’s rivers, lakes, and streams.

This year’s efforts will focus on Harmon and Hayner’s Creeks, both of which serve as headwaters to the Vernon River. In previous cleanups, thousands of pounds of litter have been successfully removed from these sensitive waterways, significantly improving the local ecosystem.
The Rivers Alive Cleanup is sponsored by Clean Coast and the City of Savannah’s Water Resources and Sanitation Departments. Residents and volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate.
For more information or to register for the event, visit SavannahGA.gov or contact the City’s Water Resources Department.
