Friday, November 7th, 2025
Walmart today announces the completion of a remodel of its location at 1955 E Montgomery Cross Road in Savannah, Georgia. The 204,000-square-foot Supercenter underwent a 16-week transformation that added significant updates and improvements. Walmart plans to hold a re-grand opening ceremony on Friday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. to celebrate the launch of the remodeled store.
This refresh will bring a variety of upgrades to Store #605, all designed to provide customers with a better overall shopping experience. The most notable enhancements include new interactive displays, transformed departments, reconfigured store layout, and new interior and exterior signage. Another addition is the expansion of the online pickup and delivery area to accommodate a higher volume of orders.
Other stores that underwent recent remodels in the Savannah area include locations at 14030 Abercorn St., 10530 Abercorn St. and 251 Robert B. Miller Road. This year, Walmart has set a goal to remodel more than 650 stores across the U.S., including 20 in Georgia. Prior to 2025, Walmart invested more than $1.1 billion to upgrade stores throughout Georgia over the past five years. With 209 retail units and 13 supply chain facilities, Walmart employs over 65,000 associates in the Peach State.

“When we began preparing for our remodel, the goal was to take feedback from both customers and associates and make meaningful improvements,”,” said Brian Hillard, store manager at the Savannah Walmart Supercenter. “The result is that every corner of the store has been reimagined, as these changes will help customers shop smarter, browse longer and find exactly what they are looking for more efficiently.” Savannah Mayor Van Johnson will be in attendance for the ceremony that features special giveaways from vendors like the Ghost Pirate hockey team and the local fire and police departments. During the ceremony, the Savannah Supercenter will be giving a Spark Good local grant to Heads-Up Guidance Service, a Savannah non-profit organization that provides faith-based counseling and vocational guidance. The store also features a custom mural that reflects the city’s rich culture, educational institutions, history and lush green spaces. The Spanish moss-draped oak trees represent an iconic feature of Forsyth Park, as the Talmadge Memorial Bridge stretches across the background of the painting identical to spanning the Savannah river. The mural also includes the Savannah State University band at the bottom, mirroring the school’s cultural legacy and picturesque campus.
