CCHA Trust Awards Nearly $1 Million to Expand Health Care Access in Chatham County

The Chatham County Hospital Authority (CCHA) Trust announced $964,000 in grant funding awarded to four nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing health care services to the indigent population of Chatham County, Georgia. The awards were made through a competitive grant-making process.
The following organizations received grant funding:
- Curtis V. Cooper Primary Health Care, Inc. - $250,000
- Hospice Savannah, Inc. – $214,000
- J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center, Inc. - $250,000
- MedBank Foundation, Inc. - $250,000
“These grant awards reflect the CCHA Trust’s continued commitment to improving access to quality health care for our most vulnerable residents,” said Joyce Roche, chairperson of the Chatham County Hospital Authority. “By investing in trusted community partners, we are helping ensure that essential health services are available to those who need them most throughout Chatham County.”
This marks the second year of grant distributions by the CCHA Trust, which was established in 2017 to support access to health care for Chatham County’s indigent population. The CCHA Trust partnered with United Way of the Coastal Empire (UWCE), an experienced community grantmaker, to administer and facilitate the application process. The CCHA Trust retained full authority over all funding decisions.
Grant focus areas included:
- Behavioral and mental health services
- Health screenings
- Dental hygiene care
- Specialty care services, such as diabetes care
- Patient advocacy and navigational resources
