Tuesday, January 20th, 2026
The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the two-county Hinesville Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded an unemployment rate of 4.6%, up seven-tenths from September to November. A year ago, the rate was 3.8%.
“Jobs are growing in every metro area because Georgia's businesses continue to invest and hire,” said Georgia Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “That job growth means real paychecks supporting hardworking Georgians across our state. As we move into 2026, we'll continue connecting Georgians to mortgage-paying jobs and ensuring businesses have the skilled talent they need to grow.”
The labor force in Hinesville decreased by 146 from September to November, ending at 31,075, and fell by 186 compared to November 2025.
Hinesville finished November with 29,661 employed residents, down 355 from September to November and down 418 from a year ago.
Hinesville ended November with 21,900 jobs, up 200 over the previous month but down 400 over the year.
In November, initial unemployment claims fell by 27 from the previous month and rose by 23 compared to the same month last year, totaling 98.
