Metro Hinesville Unemployment Rate Falls in September

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the two-county Hinesville Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded an unemployment rate of 3.9% in September, down two-tenths over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.7%.

“Unemployment in Georgia dropped across nearly every region in September," said Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. "As we approach the end of the year, we’re staying focused on keeping workers ready, businesses strong, and opportunity growing across the state.”

The labor force in Hinesville increased by 153 and ended the month at 31,221. That number decreased by 108 compared to September 2024.

Hinesville finished September with 30,016 employed residents, up 213 from the previous month and down 165 from September 2024.

Hinesville ended September with 22,100 jobs, unchanged over both the previous month and year.

In September, initial unemployment claims fell by 10 from the previous month and rose by 19 from the same month a year ago, totaling 112.
