Friday, January 16th, 2026
The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the three-county Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded an unemployment rate of 3.5% in November, up six-tenths from September to November. A year ago, the rate was 2.9%.
“Jobs are growing in every metro area because Georgia's businesses continue to invest and hire,” said Georgia Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “That job growth means real paychecks supporting hardworking Georgians across our state. As we move into 2026, we'll continue connecting Georgians to mortgage-paying jobs and ensuring businesses have the skilled talent they need to grow.”
The labor force in Savannah increased by 694 from September to November and ended the month at 209,549, up 295 from November 2025.
Savannah finished the month with 202,305 employed residents, down 420 from September to November and down 817 from the same time last year.
Savannah ended November with 209,600 jobs, an all-time high, up 1,600 from the previous month and up 500 from the same time last year.
In November, initial unemployment claims decreased by 84 from the previous month and rose by 17 compared to the same month last year, totaling 459.
