– DBC Radio's Hot 98.3 (WGCO-FM) hosted its 5th Annual “Jared and Katie's Breaking and Entering Christmas”, providing a local family in Southeast Georgia with a much-deserved Christmas on Friday morning, December 19th.

 

Since November, Hot 98.3 invited listeners to nominate families facing challenging circumstances in 2025 via their website and mobile app. The station received a record number of entries again this year, each carefully reviewed by the team. Jared and Katie selected a family of six from Richmond Hill, Georgia, who had recently lost their primary source of income and health insurance due to a company layoff. Having relocated to Bryan County four years ago, this would be their first Christmas without employment or insurance. Jared and Katie recognized the family's need for some much-deserved holiday cheer especially with the financial hardship of the mother still undergoing treatment from being diagnosed with bladder cancer.

 

Jared Pike, Katie Tesh, Matt Wells, Jason Goodman and Josie Cothran orchestrated a surprise "break-in" to the family's home. They delivered an abundance of gifts, including bikes, shoes, health and beauty products, clothes, games and more for each child, along with hundreds of dollars in gift cards.
