Savannah Philharmonic To Perform Beethoven’s Eroica

The Savannah Philharmonic will perform Beethoven’s Eroica on Saturday, February 7, 2026, with a matinee performance at 3:00 pm and an evening performance at 7:30 pm, both at  Lucas Theatre for the Arts. 
 
The evening will be led by Guest Conductor, Darko Butorac, and will feature Cellist, William Suh, as the Savannah Philharmonic performs MOZART Overture to the Marriage of Figaro, SAINT-SAINT-SAËNS Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33, and BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55 “Eroica.”
Darko Butorac stands out as one of the most compelling conductors of his generation. He serves as the Music Director of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra, where his innovative programming and dynamic leadership have captivated audiences. Butorac has guest-conducted numerous prestigious orchestras across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. 
Fluent in multiple languages and deeply rooted in a multicultural background, Butorac brings a unique perspective to his work, blending tradition with innovation. His vision for the future of orchestral music emphasizes inclusivity, accessibility, and artistic integrity, continually striving to break down barriers and bring the transformative power of music to all.
Cellist William Suh has been acclaimed for his engaging musicianship, dynamically colored playing, and artistic sincerity. A recipient of the Aldo Parisot Prize and Broadus Erle Prize at the Yale School of Music, Suh was awarded first prizes at the 57th Serge & Olga Koussevitzky Young Artist Awards by the Musicians Club of New York, the 50th Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Competition, the New England Conservatory Concerto Competition, the Music Teachers National Association String Competition, and the Aspen Music Festival Concerto Competition. Suh also holds top honors from the New York International Artists Association and Hellam Young Artist Competitions. A recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Young Artist Award, Suh’s performances have been featured on National Public Radio, WQXR, and Hawaii Public Radio.
Currently an Artist Diploma candidate at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Joel Krosnick, Suh holds degrees from the Yale School of Music, New England Conservatory, and is a graduate of the Colburn Music Academy. He has appeared in masterclasses with Marc Coppey, Frans Helmerson, Steven Isserlis, Laurence Lesser, and Truls Mørk, among others, and has studied with Paul Watkins, Paul Katz, and Clive Greensmith. An advocate for the democratization of music education, Suh manages program operations for CelloBello. He performs on a 1913 cello by Carl Becker Sr., provided by a generous loan from the Colburn Collection.
