Thursday, February 5th, 2026
Telfair Museums invites the community to experience a special Friday 13th and Valentine’s Eve screening of the classic 1987 thriller starring Glenn Close, “Fatal Attraction.” Catch the final days of “The Art of the Character: Highlights from the Glenn Close Costume Collection” and bring in Valentine’s Day weekend with a showing of “Fatal Attraction” from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 13 at the Jepson Center, located at 207 W. York St. Admission is free for Telfair members, and $10 for non-members.
“Fatal Attraction” is a quintessential psychological thriller that follows Dan Gallagher, a married Manhattan lawyer whose brief weekend affair with book editor Alex Forrest turns into a terrifying nightmare. While Dan attempts to resume his normal life, Alex becomes dangerously obsessed, escalating from harassment and stalking to violent acts of domestic terrorism, including the infamous "bunny boiling" incident. The film culminates in a brutal home invasion where Dan and his wife are forced to fight for their lives, serving as a cautionary tale about the devastating consequences of infidelity and the volatility of obsession. Come for the adventure on screen and stay for the drama off-screen to explore Telfair Museums’ featured exhibition with costumes from this movie and more before it closes on February 15.
“Telfair Museums is excited to present a big screen showing of ‘Fatal Attraction’ and a final opportunity for the community to step into the world of costume design with ‘The Art of the Character: Highlights from the Glenn Close Costume Collection’,” said Elyse Gerstenecker, Director of Curatorial Affairs and Curator of Decorative Arts.
Throughout her storied career, actress Glenn Close has collaborated closely with costume designers to help bring the characters she embodies to life. Inspired by the creativity and craftsmanship she saw in her film and theater productions, she began collecting and preserving costumes and accessories from her projects after her first movie, “The World According to Garp” (1982). In 2017, she donated her over 800-piece collection to the Elizabeth Sage Historic Costume Collection in the School of Art, Architecture + Design at Indiana University.
First presented at the Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University in 2021, “The Art of the Character: Highlights from the Glenn Close Costume Collection” offers visitors a unique opportunity to thoroughly explore the careful consideration and exacting details that teams of designers, drapers, and other craftspeople created in over 50 ensembles and numerous examples of jewelry, shoes, and other accessories. It features the work of award-winning costume designers, in addition to Anthony Powell (“101 Dalmatians” and “102 Dalmatians”), also Ann Roth (“The Stepford Wives”), and James Acheson (“Dangerous Liaisons”), and highlight the craftsmanship of costume making workshops such as Barbara Matera Ltd (“101 Dalmatians” and “102 Dalmatians”).
The exhibition is organized by Telfair Museums in partnership with the Elizabeth Sage Historic Costume Collection at the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture, and Design of Indiana University. Please visit www.Telfair.org for more information or to purchase tickets.
