Low Country Grit Announces Collaboration with Artist Kaylee Hettenbaugh, Mirror Image Fish Printing Gallery, and Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Foundation Ahead of Ocean Discovery Center Grand Opening

Savannah, GA — Low Country Grit is pleased to announce a creative collaboration with local artist Kaylee Hettenbaugh of Mirror Image Fish Printing and the Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. This partnership brings together art, conservation, and the coast, and a curated collection of products and apparel to support the Ocean Discovery Center’s grand reopening on February 28, 2026.

Kaylee Hettenbaugh, founder of Mirror Image Fish Printing Gallery on Tybee Island, is renowned for her work in gyotaku. This traditional Japanese fish-printing technique captures the detailed form of marine life through inked impressions. Her pieces reflect both artistic skill and a deep connection to Georgia’s coastal waters.

The Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to education, conservation, and public outreach, plays a central role in coastal stewardship and community programs. The Foundation manages initiatives such as the Ocean Discovery Center, which serves as an educational hub for sanctuary science and marine conservation.

This collaboration will feature specially commissioned artwork by Kaylee’s, with a portion of proceeds supporting the Foundation’s mission to foster greater awareness and appreciation of Georgia’s unique marine ecosystems. The partnership also highlights the shared values of art and science in telling the story of our coastal environment.

Low Country Grit looks forward to showcasing these works alongside the Gray’s Reef Foundation at the Ocean Discovery Center’s grand reopening on February 28, 2026. The event will bring together artists, conservationists, educators, and community members to celebrate this important cultural and environmental milestone. This is a fun, all-ages, free event hosted in part by the Savannah Downtown Business Association.
