Georgia Budget Sends $20M to Expand Coastal Georgia Residencies

Lawmakers in Atlanta this week approved $20 million in Georgia’s amended budget aimed at expanding medical residency programs in Coastal Georgia and training more doctors in the Savannah area.

A major portion of new funding in Georgia’s amended state budget will go toward expanding medical residency programs at St. Joseph’s/Candler, with the goal of training more doctors in Savannah and encouraging them to remain in Coastal Georgia after completing their training.
