New $11.5M Library Coming to Eisenhower & Waters
Thursday, March 19th, 2026
Savannah is getting a major library upgrade, with plans now moving forward for a brand-new $11.5 million branch that will replace the nearly 50-year-old Oglethorpe Mall Library.
Live Oak Public Library says local firm GMSHAY Architects will design the new facility at Eisenhower Drive and Waters Avenue on county-owned property.
Officials say the current location is outdated and no longer large enough to serve the growing community.
“We recently worked with GMSHAY to restore the Carnegie Library Heritage Center, and we know how intentional and professional they are,” said Executive Director Lola DeWitt. She added the new design will reflect community needs, with opportunities for residents to share input in the coming months.
